About the London Ride
First run in 2004, the London Ride is the urban edition of the Ride Freesport event series. As a friendly competition for UK and International Riders. In 3 year London Ride has attracted the likes of Jon Olson, Loic Collomb-Patton, Lolo Favre and many more plus the best of British, Paddy Graham, Andy Bennett and Mike Wakefield.
The London Ride is not an invitational event; the comp is open to accomplished aspiring skiers that are eager to compete with the pros and sponsored riders. We believe that it is important to encourage the development of our up-and-coming athletes and to give them the exposure and experience they need to maximise their talents.
Since 2004, the London Ride has clocked up over 1200 hours of audited TV airtime through its distributor, Quattro Media. This has given the riders that put it all on the line during the event the coverage they rightly deserved. The event has had over 120,000 downloads since 2004 of the 24 minute TV program through the website of the event, www.thelondonride.com.
The London Ride is one of the biggest live crowds of all the Ride Freesport events with over 40,000 people passing through the doors of the Metro Ski + Snowboard Show, the location of the London Ride event. This is great for the event sponsors and brands associated with the event.
Due to the growth of the London Ride, the Urban Ride has now been created to tour around the UK’s very popular freestyle ski scene and judge up and coming riders to qualify for the London Ride event. The event started in 2007 and is set to grow for 2008. Watch this space.
